So the next time you're at the grocery store, pick up a few supplies and put the kids to work let the kids play. Then watch how much fun the birds (and probably a few squirrels) have. ...Read Full Post

I'm in full holiday mode. The scent from my Christmas tree blends beautifully with the aromas coming from my oven.
Did you know you could rent a live Christmas tree? It's too late for me this year, but what an interesting idea. Nurseries will delivery a potted tree to your house and pick it up after the holidays. The price will vary by size, type of tree and location, but most aren't much different from buying a cut tree. Some places even let you "adopt" a tree. You get the same tree year after year. I'm making a note of this for next year. Do a search on "rent a Christmas tree" to find a nursery near you. Now if only I could rent Christmas cookies. ...Read Full Post

Today is the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere. I believe the summer solstice occurred in the southern hemisphere yesterday, lucky you. But for me it is the shortest day of the year, which I like to think of as the beginning of the days getting longer. In 2010, a lunar eclipse coincided with the winter solstice, which somehow seems fitting. ...Read Full Post
